WEEK 2

Each week (on every FRIDAY)  I will add 5 songs to my playlist, which is available on Spotify.
They are five different songs from artists I really love from a eclectic range of sources.  From that, I'll avoid using the same artists twice and focus to show you lots of new music I'm ddiscovering and some of my favourites from the vaults. There should be a range of quality tracks updated weekly. Follow it on Spotify.

This blog just chats a little bit about the songs and why I chose them. It's a little extra depth to the tracks and some context to them. I also put the youtube links up here if you want to listen to them.

WEEK 2

Steely Dan  - Change Of The Guard

Lots of older people love Steely Dan,  (for example - your dad and Walter White from Breaking Bad).  I'm probably the youngest person to EVER listen to Steely Dan (that's a bold and frankly outrageous claim - but I'm not going to retract it). Steely Dan are a band I first heard on Guitar Hero World Tour (Do It Again) and I didn't really like it. However, as my taste in music matured and evolved, Steely Dan's work grew more and more amazing. Change Of The Guard is a great example of this - it's full of wondrous melodies and guitar-work which makes feel right at home.

The Darkness - Friday Night

I really love this song. It's a great archetypal rock song. I think the Hawkins brothers really make excellent albums. Permission To Land is often overlook for the novelty of The Darkness, but it's an absolutely amazing album. Friday Night is the sweetest song on there and very reminiscent of my childhood. Darkness are also amazing live. They put on an amazing show.

Screaming Females - It All Means Nothing

Screaming Female are a quality band with such a lush sound with a slight 'Sex Bob-Omb' Vibe. Marissa is a great vocalist and amazing guitarist. A lot of people complain that Marissa's voice sounds weird, but I think that really is what creates the engagement.
My favourite SF album is Rose Mountain but It All Means Nothing is my favourite song from the previous album. It's so addictive and you'll be singing it for days.

The New Pornographers - Sing Me Spanish Techno

One. Of. My. Favourite. Songs. Ever.
This song is one of the most joyful songs I've ever listened to. I'm sure other people don't or won't care so much for this song as much as I do, but for me this song is such a powerful song. On the road to recovery after a really bleak spell of depression, this song was the one to pick me up and put a spring in my step. It was a guaranteed way to put a smile on my face. It's a song full of internal hope

It was created by New Pornographers  a super-group (featuring Neko Case - featuring in last week's supergroup) and their sound is incredible. I love their harmonies. Check out The Electric Version album too.

David Bowie - Heroes

I feel slightly hack for putting this song on so early. I didn't intend to put it on this week, but I think it fits so well after Sing Me Spanish Techno. They are two songs which make me feel on ttop of the world. So sorry for putting this, but you won't be able to disagree with this song. It's not a deep cut for a reason.
Heroes is one of the greatest songs ever (and greatest song to be covered). Fact. It's woven with Bowie magic and it's so warm and endearing. It's a song which makes me happy to be alive.
I need not say any more as it speaks for itself
